What are Ambience Rooms?
Youtube is full of the genre called Ambience Rooms. These digitally created “rooms” will transport you to amazing scenes of imaginary locations like a cafe, beach, library, or even fantasy scenes from the Hobbit. These are full of ambient noises (birds, rain, waves, or background chatter) or gentle music to feel like you are there. Meant to create a scenic mood for studying or relaxation, ASMR (or “Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response”) is the next way to use your smart tv to stream atmosphere into your day.
For an autumn holiday vibe in your home during the holidays, these favorite ambience rooms can add that low key music in the background as well as a festive scene for your evening or for that holiday gathering. Paired with a few lovely diffuser blends, you’ve added subtle layers for your senses.

What are diffuser blends?
Written about by a Greek botanist and physician Dioscorides way back in the first century, essential oils have been used in cosmetics, health, and spiritual practices for thousands of years. Essential oils are wonderful for creating a sensory experience and mood in your room. Today, using diffusers is an easy and economical way to spread the oil throughout the air in your space.
Synthetic chemicals in air fresheners and cheaply made candles can create xeno-estrogenic effects in the body, which can wreak havoc with our systems. Natural quality essential oils are a healthy alternative that can promote a positive mood and some of them can purify the air as well. Reputable options are linked at the end.
Pairing a lovely blend of oils in your diffuser with an ambience room can make for a delightful cozy evening. There are many ways to choose a variety and blend of oils. Included with the ambience rooms listed below are some premade recipes so you don’t have to figure it out. Oils are a fun way to experiment with the scents that you prefer. Most reputable oil businesses also curate blends that are already pre-mixed for you so you don’t have to create a scent from a recipe.
Diffusers vs. Humidifiers
Not to be confused with humidifiers, the most common diffusers use a disk that vibrates ultrasonically to break up essential oils and water into micro droplets and disperses them into the air as a very fine mist. These quiet and decorative diffusers come in different sizes to match the size areas you plan on dispersing oils into. For our home, I use a simple plugin diffuser that you can easily find in places like Winco or Amazon.
Note: Diffuser blends are a wonderful addition to your room, just be aware that these can affect pets and very small children in the room if diffused to concentrated or for too long. There are some oils not recommended for cats or dogs due to different metabolisms than humans such as citrus oils or tea tree oil. Be sure to follow the diffuser oil total amount directions and give your diffuser a rest occasionally.

There are many useful essential oil companies but I’ve listed only a few that are in the business of therapeutic level oils that are not just synthetic fragrance oils. You can buy single oils, sets, or blends that are lovely all by themselves. I have not listed reputable oil businesses with memberships to keep ordering simple and straightforward.
