We first started the Ponder Moment Series as a quick and easy devotional to help you stop and take a pause. Getting to know God a little at a time or just to register His goodness around you. In this busy fast-paced world, sometimes all it takes is a few minutes to stop and reconnect with your Creator. As you take repeated moments to stop and concentrate on Him, those minutes may grow to be an in-depth vibrant part of your mind and time.
Start with these small steps and see where God takes you. As you get started and have time, God may lead your thoughts to other Bible rabbit trails and applications of verses. Wonderful! Don’t let these side trails go if you can help it– He may be on the verge of whispering to you a much needed thought or direction.
Activate Your Brain
Did you know that science has been able to “see” what parts of the brain are activated during different activities? According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, when you stop and let your mind wonder, when you do something creative that takes you into the “zone”, when you sit still and ponder, and when you are thinking over scripture–these activities show enhanced brain activity. Much more so than the average daily routine.
There is much more to the verse, “Be still and know that I am God” than just poetry. God must be chuckling that science has finally caught up and discovered the physical benefit of pondering Him. It’s good for the mind and soul.
How to Use the Ponder Moment Printables
Print out the printable you want to focus on by clicking the images and downloading. Read the Bible verses that are emphasized and write down any that are asked for on the printable. Take a few moments to color in any areas of the printable. The act of pausing and coloring allows what you have just read in the Bible to sink into your mind as you pause and take time to let your thoughts wonder over them. Don’t hurry off and skip the small amount of coloring, it is actually an important part of the Ponder moment. Gel pens, colored pencils, markers, and crayons all work well.
Getting to Know God: The God of Wonder
This month’s Ponder Moment is reflecting on the God who is the vast and all-powerful but yet is still concerned for us. How much thought do you give to each dust particle on your floor? To think that He desires to be known by each one of us is beyond incredible. Read the verses, write them out, and reflect while giving it some color.
Names of God: Jehovah-Jireh
Take a moment to read the story of Abraham and Isaac where we first see this name given to God. This name holds true today and holds a special importance to each of us going through difficult trials, worries, emotions, or needs. He sees it and sees to it.
Praise Him for His Creativity focus
In this printable, we take a look at just a few verses in His word that focus on His creation. Then follow-up with nature sketching to get you to stop and notice what is around you! Be sure to let us know which verse is your favorite or what you are sketching. My favorite verses remind me that we are His craftsmanship, made in His image. Download yours by clicking on the image.
First Printable in the Ponder Moment series: Let’s Look at a single word– “Overcome”
If you missed our very first in this series, you can download it by clicking on the image below. This is a simple word study by looking up verses in your concordance with the word “overcome” in it. Write the verse that speaks to you and then circle the synonym you claim for the day:
The God of Second Chances
Jonah is the classic Bible story of second chances. We all have experienced the grace of being given a second chance in life circumstances such as a renewed friendship, mended relationships after mistakes, trying again on a school assignment when we were young. God is not so austere that He gives us one chance and one chance only at all times. Moses, in all his human-ness, actually whines and seems a little bickerish with God at the burning bush!
Think about your life today, what are you thinking on? Has something come across your path that you have been cogitating on? What is God giving YOU a second chance to do in your life? For this printable, you may want to write out the Bible verse and then color for a bit to let it sink in before you answer the top question.
The God Who Sees Me
The holidays can be a joyous family-filled time, but for some it can be the loneliest time of the whole year. Don’t forget that even though our feelings change and flit from moment to moment, El Roi sees you and remains with you.
Maker of the Universe
We are studying Astronomy at the moment and learning about white and black holes and time dilation. Fascinating stuff for sure. There are multiple verses regarding the universe: how it was created, it’s role, and what will happen. Take a moment to ponder on these few selections and don’t forget to read the passage around them for context. Click on the image to download. You can print this one in black and white or in color.
The God Over All
In our striving to make ends meet or to get ahead in this world, it’s easy to forget that it all belongs to Him already. He is willing and able to provide for us but we also must remember that when He does, we are to remember that He is the one who blessed us with it while we are temporarily in stewardship of it. Click on the image to download and then print in black and white.

These are very nice shhets! The only negative I see is the designs that are very light gray won’t print out. Otherwise, I love them! Thank you.
Thank you for letting me know. I will darken them and see if that works better. God Bless.
The “El Roi” sheet now has a darker gray. Hopefully that helps.
This is an amazing post! Id like more printable sheets like these you made!
So glad you are enjoying the printables. I plan adding more in the near future. Feel free to subscribe so you know when that happens.
