Day in the Life | Life Coaching with Renee White

What Does a Life Coach do and how they get there?

Have you ever considered life coaching to help you work through some life issues that seem to keep you stuck? Life coaches can be just the ticket to help you get a fresh perspective and some honest feedback of your under-riding core beliefs that are permeating through your decision making. Renee White, a life coach in the Pacific Northwest, graciously answered my questions as to what a day in her life looks like as a life coach, writer, and mom. Take a look at her world and broaden your horizons.

Life Coaching and Family

Hi there! I am a Life Coach for women and teen girls and have also begun coaching married couples as there is such a great need. Also, I am an over the top happily married woman. My relationship with my husband is one of my biggest gifts from the Lord. Speaking of awesome gifts!

I am also mom to 4 boys. Well, only one is still just a boy. The others are men now. There’s 8 year old Timmy, 18yr old Joshua, 20yr old Jacob, and 21yr old Abel. Four boys – what an incredible ride it’s been! Two of my boys are biological and two of them adopted, but I can’t remember which is which.

Connecting with People

I love to read and I have a side hustle selling stickers. But if I was to be honest, I would have to say that connecting with people is not only my favorite job but also my favorite passion and hobby. I am constantly amazed by the way the Lord connects people together, just when they need each other. I love making new friends. I’m very much the, “You had me at hello” kind of gal. The first time I meet you I’m already considering you a friend forever.

I never think lightly about a new friend. Instead, I’m in awe like, “Wow God, you did it again!” I always feel so incredibly blessed that God would put me in just the right spot to connect with that one person who yesterday I didn’t even know existed. Are you kidding me!? So thankful for all the little miracles like that in my life.

What is life coaching: Looking at Heart Clutter

I have a sweet little office in Selah, Washington. Working with many women from all walks of life, my expertise is in helping women break free from negative self-messages, past wounds, and baggage that they were never meant to carry. We all develop some negative core beliefs as we go through life. I call it heart clutter. And these negative core beliefs wreak havoc on all of our relationships, including our relationship with Christ.

Client core beliefs and blessings

There is not a typical coaching scenario because I allow the Lord to lead every session and each woman is unique. But I can say that we always start with right where the woman is at. What is her situation currently? We will then look at her past so that I can help her to recognize her negative core beliefs and how those beliefs have affected her decisions and actions. She will gain incredible awareness of how those negative core beliefs are driving her fear, anxiety, stress, anger, guilt, etc. This is when the real life-changing fun begins. What an incredible blessing it is to teach women how to replace their negative core beliefs with God’s truths. Freedom!

What led you to become a life coach?

I was actually looking online for part-time job ideas for my husband as he was about to retire. I ran across an article about life-coaching and was like, “Hey that sounds like what I’ve done my whole life. Wait! What? People get paid to do this!?” So, I showed it to my husband that night and he said, “that sounds like what you’ve been doing your whole life.” I said, “I know right?! But you can get paid to do it! Should I look into it?” He was like, “Why wouldn’t you?!” And so, I enrolled in Christian Coach Institute and the rest is history.

Finding time to write

Youv’e written a devotional and a separate study, how do you find the time to write?

Well, to be honest, I tried and tried to find time to write but never could find it. Not sure where I put it, but it’s long gone. So, I realized I was going to have to make time to write. It’s a struggle because I have always been a stay-at-home mom and am passionate about that. I have an office in Selah, but trying to convince me to go there to do my writing is like pulling teeth – ask my husband. I get it; it makes sense that I should go to my nice quiet office to write. I see the logic.

But the problem is that I adore my family so much and home is such a happy place that I just can’t bring myself to leave it every day if I don’t have to. So, I write at home. And it’s not easy. In fact, it’s kind of insane. And I know that I might be a better writer if I went somewhere quieter to write, but would I be a better person? I think not.

Treasure for the Chrisian Woman's Heart book

I read your book Treasure for the Christian Women’s Heart recently and appreciate a quote from your book on page 11.  It seems especially applicable to the times we live in currently.  Do you have a particular favorite Scripture that you turn to in your life:

“God does not give us His promises in an attempt to minimize, cover or hide our reality.  He does it to assure us that our hope in Christ far surpasses any threat we may face today.”

Treasures for a Christian Woman’s Heart

I have so many favorites! Philippians 4:8 has been so powerful in my life. I mean, if we follow this one scripture, we will know how to respond in any situation .” Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philipians 4:8 ESV

Another scripture that has been so powerful in my life is the prayer of Jabez. “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” 1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV In fact, the Lord has done so many incredible things in answer to this prayer in my life that it’s become a bit of a joke in our house. My husband will tell me, “ Uh, you need to warn me before you start with the prayer of Jabez again, so I can get prepared!”

I love it! God is so exciting!

Practicing for the Heart

What was your process in creating Take Heart, your Bible study?

It’s called Take Heart and although it’s full of scripture, I’m not sure it would qualify as a BIBLE study, and so I just call it a study. There are two scriptures that inspired me to create this study: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV and  “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV

When I read these verses, I realized that the peace Jesus was offering us was not only a peace when we get to heaven someday, but also a peace here and now, even while we are still in this fallen world. That was so incredible to me! Jesus is telling us we can be in this world, and yet have a peace that surpasses all understanding; a peace that is not subject to the circumstances of this world; a peace that is not available to anyone who chooses to remain outside of Christ. Wow! I wanted that peace and I wanted it bad!

So, I took these verses to the Lord and asked Him to show me how to receive this peace from Him and teach me how to help other women get it also.

I spent 2 years writing Take Heart (formerly Peace Secured) with the Lord. Why did it take so long? I needed to know that women would be able to apply these truths to their lives and so I took each truth the Lord showed me and shared them with the women around me. It was life-changing for all of us. I would take one thing at a time to my ladies, teach them, and then watch the Lord work in their lives.

I wouldn’t move on to writing anything new until I applied it to my own life and taught other women to do the same. What an amazing 2 years it was! Some of the husbands even started asking me to create a Peace Secured Study for them!

Current Writing

I have just finished the process of reformatting Peace Secured to a book form with the title Take Heart! I am super excited about this because I will be able to get it into the hands of more women this way.

I am also currently working on my new 21-day devotional New Morning, New Mercies. I love writing the 21-day devotionals because it feels like I get to chat with my ladies a little every day. It’s super important to me to be available to all of my readers if they need me or if they have questions. This is why I make sure to include my contact information in all of my books.

Amazing Grace and Truth

I want my readers to know that I first and foremost consider myself a sinner saved by God’s amazing grace. My past is a messy one, filled with heartaches and more sins than I can count. I will never pretend to be someone other than who I am; a sinner saved by grace.

We want to live in truth. We need to live in truth, – even when that truth seems too painful or too humiliating to face. The only way God can free us from our pain and bring us to a place of peace is when we’re willing to give everything to Him.

“Sweet woman, hold nothing back – let there not be a single thing left inside your heart that you won’t allow the Lord heal.”
